Korea Travel Decision Engine is an independent English-language planning publication for visitors to South Korea. Its focus is a specific decision: when do individual transport tickets cost less than a pass, and what does that comparison leave out?

Who is responsible for these guides?

Articles credited to “Korea Travel Decision Engine Editorial Team” use this publication's shared editorial byline. That label is not a claim of professional accreditation, employment by a transport operator or personal travel experience. This site is responsible for the explanations and calculations it publishes; the official operators remain responsible for their products.

Research, not a first-person trip diary

The guides combine linked operator or public-tourism information with our own cost comparisons and planning checklists. Worked itineraries are examples, not trips we claim to have taken. Reading a booking page is not the same as completing a purchase, testing a foreign card or inspecting an accessible route in person. We do not present those activities as firsthand tests.

How to read our evidence

• Editorial update: when the article or its explanation changed.
• Data check: when a price or rule was checked against its source. This may predate the article.
• Travel date: which fare version the calculation applies. A future trip can have a different price from today's fare table.
• Planning assumption: an input such as meal spending, ride count or a sample itinerary. It is not a quote.

What we promise

• Reproducible results: the same itinerary, calculation date and underlying data produce the same answer.
• Verified, versioned prices with visible confidence levels — and honest "we don't know" answers when data can't be verified.
• Commissions can never influence a recommendation; the separation is enforced by automated tests (see methodology).
• No account is required for calculations. Read the privacy policy for trip inputs, analytics and advertising data.

What this site is not

Not a booking agency, not a tour operator, and not affiliated with KORAIL, the Seoul Metropolitan Government or any pass vendor. Product names are used to identify the products being compared.

Questions or corrections? We genuinely want to hear about any price that looks wrong — every value links back to a registered source.

For a correction, include the page URL, the travel date, the station pair or product name, and a public official source if available. Do not send passport details, payment-card numbers or full booking references. A fare discrepancy may reflect different travel dates, ticket classes or a promotion; those conditions need to be compared before changing the published amount.
