How this calculator decides

For a Select-type pass we enumerate every legal set of usage dates inside the pass window rather than guessing. If KORAIL publishes a Consecutive product again, the engine can test every possible start date from its versioned rule rather than assuming a permanent lineup. Each candidate is priced as pass cost + any journeys you'd still pay for individually, then the cheapest valid total wins. Fares come from a versioned database with verification dates — if a fare can't be verified, we exclude that journey and say so instead of inventing a number. Full details in the methodology.

Example: an overnight Busan trip

1. Enter each traveler's age. This form assumes eligible foreign visitors; it does not collect or verify nationality. Confirm pass eligibility with KORAIL before using a pass result.
2. Add Seoul Station to Busan Station on the outward date.
3. Add Busan Station to Seoul Station on the later return date. Do not put both rides on the departure day to simulate a cheaper pass.
4. Add a Gangneung or Gyeongju journey only if it is part of your confirmed plan.
5. Compare the ticket baseline with the complete pass strategy, including any separate tickets.

A same-day return and an overnight return have the same station pairs but can use different numbers of pass days. Changing the return date is therefore a useful second calculation, not just a cosmetic change. Check train availability separately before buying either option.

How to interpret a missing result

A journey without a verified fare cannot be treated as free. If a warning says a leg was excluded, the displayed total is not your complete trip budget. Check the station names and travel date, then obtain that leg's price from the operator. The calculator does not reserve seats, check remaining inventory or apply every train-specific promotion.

Good to know

• The form compares age-based prices but does not verify nationality. KORAIL Pass is for eligible foreign visitors, not Korean nationals; an unsupported route is not assumed covered.
• Saver (group) rates for 2–5 travelers are compared automatically when available.
• Children are priced with each product's own age rules — there is no one-size age band.
