What matters on this route
The station behind this fare is Dongdaegu, not Daegu Station. Use the exact station in both the calculator and your navigation app, then add any city transit beyond it independently.
A Daegu stopover is not a through ticket to Busan
If you leave the train to visit Daegu and continue later, plan Seoul–Dongdaegu and Dongdaegu–Busan as two booked journeys. Search both departures before committing to a time-limited visit. A through train's arrival in Busan does not prove that seats exist on the later train you want after sightseeing.
Same-day stop or overnight stay?
For a same-day stop, first decide where your luggage will be while you visit, then calculate the time to leave and return to Dongdaegu. Do not assume storage is available merely because it is a major station. An overnight stay changes both the accommodation budget and the date of the Busan leg. Those dates, not the order of city names, determine the pass-day comparison.
Keep the local outing and the onward train independent in your plan. If the local visit runs short, drop an optional stop rather than moving the booked rail journey silently in the calculator. If you already bought one leg, check its actual change or refund conditions before treating a new pass as a saving on that ticket.
